Braised Golden Pomfret Fish


This is one of my favorite fish dish.


Frozen Golden Pomfret Fish: 1 (I bought from Asian Food Store)

Green onion: 2-3 pieces, cut to 1 inch long

Cilantro: 2-3 piece

Garlic cloves: 2-3 pieces, smashed

Potato Starch: 1 tbsp mixing in 1/4 cup water

Butter: 2 tsp

Olive Oil: 1 tbsp

Weber Grill Creations Kick’n Chicken Seasoning: 1 tsp

Soy sauce: 3 tbsp

Rum Wine: 1 tbsp (Spiced better)

water: 1 cup

Sea Salt: 1-2 tsp

How to cook:

  • thaw and clean the fish
  • use paper towel dry the fish, both outside and inside
  • cut 2 opening on each side of the fish
  • saute pan on the stove, medium heat
  • add butter and olive oil in the pan
  • lay one side of fish in the pan, let it fry 2-5 min
  • flip the fish to the other side for 2-5 min
  • until both side of the fish changed color
  • add soy sauce and Rum, shaking the pan for 30 sec, then add water
  • add garlic and Chicken seasoning, covered
  • reduce heat to medium-low after water boiling
  • cook for 10 min
  • open the cover, turn the heat back to high, add starch mix
  • stir the juice in the pan, let it thicken up
  • add green onion

Careful put the fish on the serving plate, add juice on top of the fish, put cilantro on the top, done!
